French Linen over Lavander

I found this beautiful lavender color, and decided to

give it a try with our French Linen Overlay. . .

 

 

Such a beautiful color!

The French Linen Overlay gives any color a soft, textured finish...

There's something so sweet and endearing about lavender...

I love using accent colors on furniture to give the room just

a little extra pop....

Oil Glazing Custom Tutorial...

Remember my vintage WWII sideboard? You can read all about her here.

Glazing with oils creates more of an Old World, Tuscan feel. . .
making the finish more rich and authentic.

Our personal favorite oils to glaze with are Dark Walnut and Classic Black. . .

Here are a few samples:

Colonial Red with medium strength black

Antique White with diluted Walnut

Turquoise with medium strength Walnut

Tuscan Tan with full strength Walnut

Nutmeg Brown with medium strength black

Antique White with diluted Walnut

Aqua with medium strength Walnut

Espresso with full strength black

Tuscan Tan with full strength Walnut

As you can see, there is a lot of versatility when it comes to oils.

There are specific guidelines to follow when oil glazing,

but if done right, the possibilities are endless. .

Some things you just don't change...

A couple of months ago, I was able to score some amazing Farmhouse

finds that I posted lots of pictures of here.

Do you remember seeing this cute little cupboard?

I ho-hummed around some different ideas of what to do

with it, but nothing seemed quite right.

It was then that I realized

that I loved it just the way it was. . .this thing caught my eye

the second I looked in the barn. . .white, chippy, and beautiful :)

So I kept it just the way it was. . .

I actually did make a few changes. . .I sanded and sprayed a clear coat

to prevent any possible lead poisoning since it's a very old piece. . .

The other thing is I traded out the hardware with these from

Hobby Lobby, and painted them antique white with

some minor distressing. . .

I have a special place in my heart for the "old farmer" I got this from. . .

he is a dear friend whom I love and respect :)

I love the soft, woven texture and relaxed natural wrinkles. . .

simply beau-ti-ful...

Linens are so comforting, casual, and relaxing. . .

which is why we created our

"French Linen Overlay" finish.

Basically, it's a technique that can go over any painted 

surface. . .giving it a soft, textured linen look.
