Our first flip!

For years, we've wanted to flip a house and we finally decided to do it!
Our first flip needed to be small and somewhat simple, since it was our first go-around. Unfortunately, I didn't take the best before and after pics, so this will have to do :)

The kitchen was very small, but with a few changes we knew we could easily update it as well as open it up. There were a few things we needed to get rid of altogether: the upper center cabinets, the outdated drop ceiling, and the faux brick back splash.

Here it is after. By sticking with neutral colors on the cabinets, walls, backsplash, floor tile, and countertops, it created a much more open flow throughout the kitchen and dining area.

 Here's another angle...

The back side of the bar was wrapped in bead board, and finished with a baseboard trim. Along the top of the cabinets where the drop ceiling had once been, was finished with crown moulding.
We also replaced all the appliances with stainless steel.

We stuck to the same process on the bathrooms too.

The basement was actually very spacious and just needed a few minor changes.
We painted the basement throughout, and refinished the plywood kitchenette/bar area.

The other side of the bar...ugh :(

This was definitely the most challenging. Since we were at the end of our budget, we had to get creative with what we had left to spend. We were able to save quite a bit of money by making our own countertops. The top is stained birch wood with trim, and the lower half was a kit we bought at Home Depot, where we painted layers with sponges, and finished with a clear coat.

The living room was in great shape with a new fireplace, so all we did in here was paint.

All together, this house took about 6 weeks. After the first day on the market, we ended up getting two offers...YAY!! Let the bidding wars begin!
